Google’s Rahul Kulkarni Joins Sokrati As Chief Product Officer

Sokrati, an Inventus Capital backed digital marketing and analytics software company has appointed Rahul Kulkarni as its Chief Products Offier. Kulkarni was a key product manager for Google in Bangalore.

He was heading a cross functional team of engineering, operations and partnerships for Google Maps and Local in India, and has been involved with developing Google Navigation and live traffic, Google Local, cloud computing, Orkut and Google Finance. We’d spoken with Kulkarni about Orkut in 2009.

Sokarti is founded by 3 ex-Amazonians in 2009, dealing in digital marketing and analytics products, claims to have built proprietary algorithms to manage performance driven marketing spends on paid search, social and display networks, driving over 12 million monthly visits to advertisers by managing over 100 million active ad entities on a real-time basis. According to the company, Kulkarni will lead Sokrati’s current and future product offerings in the digital marketing and analytics space and international expansion.

As far as we know, Kulkarni among the last remaining Google product managers in India. We’ve asked Google if they have any product managers left in India – many from the initial team in Google India have either moved on or been moved to Mountain View, California, and one immediate outcome of this is that we haven’t seen any key developments under Indic language technology from Google for the last few years.

Prior to Google, Kulkarni was the Product Manager for LabVIEW at National Instruments Corp in Austin where he led new product development efforts in the areas of design, prototyping and deployment of high speed control systems. He holds a Masters in Engineering from Georgia Tech in Atlanta and Bachelors from VJTI Mumbai.
