Saurabh is one of India’s pioneering IT entrepreneurs and early-stage venture investors. He joined Inventus to focus on developing and guiding the growing ambitions of Indian entrepreneurs. Saurabh was one of three Founding General Partners of Infinity Captial India in 2000, and collaborated closely with Kanwal as the firm's lead Limited Partner. Saurabh and his partners financed 20 early-stage Indian companies resulting in five exits to date including the IPO of Indiabulls valued at over $3 billion today.
Saurabh began his operating career with IBM in India and later became an executive with Tata-Unisys. In 1989 he founded IIS Infotech and built it into one of India’s top 20 companies within 4 years. He later merged IIS with a publicly-traded British company to form Xansa, and led Xansa’s India operations as Executive Chairman until joining Inventus in 2006.
Saurabh began his association with Kanwal when they structured a business partnership between Novell and IIS in 1991. Later they founded the Delhi Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) where Saurabh continues as President. Over the past ten years, Saurabh has co-invested with Kanwal and John in a number of early-stage companies, and collaborated with Samir to advance TiE in India. He is a Board Director of InfoEdge (aka Naukri) which listed in 2006 as India’s first internet IPO and is currently valued at over $1 billion. Saurabh chairs the India Venture Capital Association and co-founded The Indian Angel Network. He advises a number of Indian policy groups and government venture firms, and was a founder and past Chairman of India’s National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM).
Education
Saurabh holds a BSME from IIT-Kanpur, a MS from Harvard University, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Wolverhampton in the UK.
